Case Study - Finance Restructuring
Hucknall Sheet Metal Engineering Ltd operates from Bulwell in Nottingham. Directors John Paterson and Brian Simms left Rolls Royce over 30 years ago left Rolls Royce to begin a sheet metal fabrication shop principally for the aerospace industry. Over the period they were very successful and gained accreditation to AS9100 (Aerospace), NADCAP approval, have a good working relationship with Rolls Royce and other aerospace manufacturers and do Ministry of Defence work. They have built an extensive manufacturing facility including Trumpf CNC Lasercutting on models L3030 and a 5 axis machine complimenting their aged L2503 1.5KW which had been a stalwart since 1996. They also had a Trumpf Qualifier Measuring machine needed for the exacting requirements of the aerospace industry.
Hucknall directors had learned over thirty years where they had been consistently successful and knew they had to widen their reputation for innovation and quality in parts of the aerospace industry and needed to widen this to fit all of it and also the medical pharmaceutical, construction and food industries.
At the beginning of 2007 began a review of their manufacturing facilities and included their banking and funding arrangements. Hucknall decided to release aged equipment to release space and invest in the latest Trumpf Trulaser 2030 Laser cutter with its load and unload facility, a Trumpf CNC Press brake, and new plant to produce their own Nitrogen as well as and new marking and finishing equipment.
VFS worked with the directors and accountants David Rice & Associates to put facilities in place to purchase machines and gain the support of the East Midlands Development Agency for a significant grant to the project.
Hucknall Sheet metal Engineering Ltd are completing 2007 with the new equipment installed, increased turnover and profitability well spread debtors across several industries and a record order book.
